Title of program: Expanding Your Personal Vision with Fashion Photographer, STRUAN

Program Description:

Deciphering the Myths & adding the Magic to great photographs! Photographers will be introduced in how to create better photographs through imagination, lighting and direction. Today’s Digital era has created several problems in creating great photographs.

• Photographers can shoot as many frames as they wish, most times, way too many, which waters down the creative process, allowing for poor composition and certainly adding to the long editing process.

• Every camera today comes with numerous ‘Auto’ options, which are used too often, giving the photographer less control over every shot. How using ‘manual’ operations on your camera is your best bet, foolproof and guaranteed.

• Most photographers use zoom lenses, which they use haphazardly, zooming in and out, with little concept of which proper focal length to use for any given subject.

From his many years as an international fashion photographer, Struan will reveal his creative approach to photographing people and guide you through the entire process … from the ‘creative’ concept of seeing any subject entirely differently, to the numerous and various lighting options, be it strobe or daylight, to adding some magic to the final image with strong vision and direction. By the end of this workshop you will see the world very differently every time you pick up your camera, regardless of what you want to photograph. You will be able to create a clear vision in your mind before pressing the shutter.

“Intuition, Simplicity and Passion are the ingredients I use to create my images.” Struan

Title of program: PORTFOLIO REVIEWS with STRUAN

Every Photographer continually strives in creating the "perfect" portfolio.

What makes for a "good" portfolio? ‘Content’ is key and attention to every detail is important as your photographs can easily be overlooked due to a poor presentation.

This Portfolio Review will guide you through the entire process to ensure that your portfolio looks professional. Your portfolio must speak for itself; once that is accomplished, then you can proceed to your website content and design.

3 OPTIONS:

  • One-on-One > 20 minute Portfolio Review session: $175

  • Group of 4 > 45 minute Portfolio Review session: $125/person

  • Larger Groups of 10 or more > 11/2 hr. Portfolio Overview, Guidelines & Tips: $75/person

All photographers to bring their most recent portfolio (completely prepared) as if meeting for an interview with any potential client or a link to their website or a USB with a folder of images to be reviewed (via a video projector). Any ‘tear sheets’ or promotional material would be a plus.

This is a business. Don't try to make everybody like you. Make better images. That way you can walk away with a sense of accomplishment and maybe even more money. Believe in the value of your work. If you don't, no one else will either.
